Malayalam cinema, you are being watched!

Is there a trend in Malayalam of following the storyline of previous blockbusters? Mohan Lal's latest flick, Snehaveedu seems to be a carbon copy of the director's previous movie ' Manasinakkare'. The elements seem to be exactly the same- a village in kerala, a mother-son relationship trivias, picturesque songs, emotional melodrama and so on. What is the need to follow the line? What happend to the variety that Malayalam cinema is proud of?

A little while ago the Malayalam movie horizons seemed to be filled with superhero movies where the hero typically has a signature move and a signature dialogue. Then there are impossible ventures to normal man that this hero has successfully done with. Then it is the turn of an item number by a non-mallu actress. Who are you guys fooling? We love cinemas and would watch every bit of it, but you are morally obligated to give us something in return- a good cinema.

When movies like 'Adaminte makan Abu' is rocking the international arena, people across the globe are noticing Malayalam cinema. So please be aware to keep our standards. So next time you see a non-mallu actress desperately trying to fit into the movie spoiling it or a song sequence that has no relevance to the scene whatsoever, plz have the courage to walk out of the theatre in protest.
