Malayalam music -Singer Chitra is champion of the charts

Thiruvanathapuram, Jan 16 (IANS): The songs of "Vesham" are still going strong with singer K.S. Chitra ruling the roost last fortnight.

1. Song: "Minnale Minnale"; Film: "Vesham"; Music: S.A. Rajkumar; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singer: K.S. Chitra.

This song is picturised on Gopika and Indrajith. The appeal of the film enhances that of the song.

2. Song: "Ishtam Ishtam"; Film: "Amrutham"; Music: M. Jayachandran; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singer: K.S. Chitra.

Director Sibi Malayil has used this song in the film beautifully to move the story forward. It is not one of the more common songs that impede the flow of the film.

3. Song: "Veshangal"; Film: "Vesham"; Music: S.A. Rajkumar; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singer: K.J. Yesudas.

Yesudas, with his mellifluous voice of many nuances, has brought out the depth of Kaithapram's lyrics. The combination is irresistible.

4. Song: "Thotturummi"; Film: "Rasikan"; Music: Vidyasagar; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: Prathapachandran and Sujatha.

This song marks the comeback Vidyasagar to Malluwood after a long gap.

5. Song: "Ambalakara"; Film: "Black"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Ranjith; Singer: M.G. Sreekumar.

This song refuses to get out of this list. It may endure much longer on the common man's lips than critics would have thought.
