Malayalam singer Radhakrishnan to perform in Dubai
Oct 25, 2006 IANS, Oct 25 (IANS) Ace composer and light music exponent M.G. Radhakrishnan will be performing in Dubai on Nov 11 along with artists like Venugopal and Ravi Shankar.
"I have planned a totally different kind of event. It will not be the normal film based stage programmes staged in the Middle East. It will be a purely musical evening with no frills and devoid of dance and fancy lighting," said Radhakrishnan.
The event would be staged at the Indian consulate hall in Dubai. The songs being featured in the evening are those composed by the veteran himself.
"We are reaching Dubai on Nov 7. Those who would sing include accomplished singers like Venugopal, Ravi Shankar, Radhika Tilak and Unni Bhaskar," said the 66-year-old music veteran.
Radhakrishnan is considered a master in the light music arena. In the 1960s and 1970s, his music lessons on All India Radio here were a hit and aired for several years.
He was also a popular playback singer in the Malayalam film industry and later went on to compose music.
