Kochi, Sep 18 (IANS) The Onam bonanza has proved lucky for all and sundry in the Malayalam film industry.

The audience is happy with the variety on offer and the industry enthused by the overwhelming response that each film has received at the box-office. The top five films for the fortnight are:

1. "Nerariyan CBI": The indigenous Sherlock Holmes of Malluwood, Sethurama Iyer, is back with a bang. Mammootty dons the character for the record fourth time in his career. One may have problems with the story of this film, but his performance is impeccable.

2. "Naran": This is time for the fans of vintage Mohanlal to rejoice. Writer Ranjan Pramod and director Joshiy have taken care that the actor regains the lost ground and they do that in style.

3. "Chaandupottu": Dileep's effeminate role pulls the family crowds into the theatres. A daring act by the star in a film directed by his friend Lal Jose has paid rich dividends.

4. "IPS": The second coming of Suresh Gopi has changed many equations in the industry ruled by the two big Ms. It is said that the actor already has five films in his kitty - all thanks to the unprecedented success of this film.

5. "Raapakal": This Mammootty film has moved to second line theatres. But the female audiences are undeterred. They still throng the theatres to see their favourite actor in a cook's role.
