Mumbai, Feb 5 (IANS) Three big films, released during last couple of weeks, make it to this list - Renji Panicker's "Roudram" featuring Mammootty, Mohanlal-starrer "College Kumaran" directed by Thulasidas and Blessy's "Calcutta News", which has Dileep and Meera Jasmine in lead roles. These films may be lacking in quality, but that does not stop them from grabbing a place here.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Roudram" - Renji Panicker's topical cop tale has everything that has grabbed headlines in the state. Mammootty's heavy-duty dialogues help this verbose film stay on top.

2. "College Kumaran" - Mohanlal becomes a canteen manager in the film directed by Thulasidas. Mohanlal evolves into a larger than life hero who corrects everything that has gone wrong in the education sector in the state.

3. "Calcutta News" - Blessy's ambitious love story-cum-thriller set in Kolkata starring Dileep and Meera Jasmine may have drawn flak from critics, but his reputation as a filmmaker keeps this film in the third spot.

4. "Katha Parayumbol" - The excitement over Rajnikant remaking the film into Tamil has made Sreenivasan, the actor-writer-producer of the movie, happy.

5. "Romeo" - It rarely happens here that two of Dileep's films feature on the top five list. This is one such occasion.
