Mohanlal and the other Lal

Kochi, Oct 8 (IANS): A case of mistaken identity created much excitement in Malayalam filmdom in recent weeks.

A local film magazine set off a big buzz by announcing the coming together of megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal in "Thommanum Makkalum", directed by Shafi and produced by actor-producer Lal.

But sources in the producer's office said it was a case of mistaken identity.

"When we said Lal, they understood it to be Mohanlal. In reality, it was simply Lal," they said.

Mammootty has just completed the shooting for "Black", produced by Lal and directed by Ranjith, where Lal himself was portraying an important role.

Prithviraj and Jayasurya, both in mid-20s, were first signed to do this film. So it will be a challenge for director Shafi and scriptwriter Benny P. Nayarambalam to modify the story to suit the older stars.
