Kochi, Dec 27 (IANS) Another festive season is upon us and filmmakers are trying to cash in on the festive mood of moviegoers. Three biggies have released but Mohanlal's "Baba Kalyani" tops them all.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Baba Kalyani" - Mohanlal plays a cop heading the Anti-Terrorist Cell. Director Shaji Kailas has given a stylish makeover to his character. Critics may complain about the script's weakness, but the film is a treat for Mohanlal fans, which the box office collections testify.

2. "Palunku" - Director Blessy brings out a middle-of-the-road film yet again where Mammootty plays a farmer, who migrates to the city to give his daughters better education. "Palunku" has surely struck the right chord with the audience.

3. "Smart City" - This is another typical thriller starring Suresh Gopi that is directed by newcomer B. Unnikrishnan.

4. "Notebook" - Director Rosshan Andrrews tries to do an adolescent film with a bunch of newcomers. The film has good music and good performances but the story is a let down.

5. "Yes Your Honour" - Actor Sreenivasan continues to hold his ground despite strong competition.
