Mohanlal's Madambi rolls

May 9, 2008 NR

Scenarist-turned-director B. Unnikrishnan's second directorial venture, the Mohanlal-starrer Madambi, has started rolling in and around Ottappalam. The director's first outing was with the Suresh Gopi-starrer Smart City.

Produced by B.C. Joshi under the banner of Surya Cinema, Madambi tells the story of a do-gooder kind of guy named Puthenveettil Gopalakrishna Pillai, a man of many parts. On the one hand he runs a tuition centre where he teaches students to love their mother tongue. At the same time he is also a money-lender who is very sharp as far as getting back his capital and interest is concerned. Another interesting aspect about him is that he always acts against injustice of any kind.

Mohanlal plays this dynamic character while Kavya Madhavan plays the leading lady. This is the first time that Kavya is being cast opposite Mohanlal, though she has acted alongside him earlier. Also in the cast are Innocent, Jagathy Sreekumar, Siddique, Ajmal Ameer, and M.R. Gopakumar - all in key roles.

The script is by B. Unnikrishnan himself, while songs penned by Gireesh Puthencherry have been set to tune by M. Jayachandran. Venu is in charge of cinematography while Joseph Nellickal does the art-direction. Shooting for Madambi is in full swing and will be completed in a single schedule.
