MT-Hariharan -Mammootty team up for Pazhassiraja
Mar 11, 2007 NRNoted writer-director-scenarist and Jnanpith recipient M.T.Vasudevan Nair, director Hariharan and Mammootty are all set to team up after a long gap to give us Pazhassi Raja, a historical film of epic proportions.
The team that gave us the unforgettable Oru Vadakkan Veeragaatha (1989) now comes together under the banner of SreeGokulam Movies to give us this new film, which will relate the heroic tale of the Raja of Pazhassi, one of the greatest revolutionaries and freedom fighters of Kerala.
The plan earlier was to make a movie based on 'Vadakkanpaattu', the folklore of North Malabar. Even the title was announced - Payyamvalli Chandu. But when MT reportedly pointed out that it was better to go in for a film on Pazhassi Raja, the producer Gokulam Gopalan agreed. And thus the film, which has been in the hearts of MT as well as Hariharan for a long time, is finally going to happen.
Padmapriya will be the heroine of the film, which will have an impressive array of artists in the cast. A lot of research has gone into the writing of this script, which would cover all aspects of the revolutionary king's personality. Pazhassi Raja will commence on April 18th in Thalasserry, the birthplace of Pazhassi Raja and will be completed in two schedules.
