'Natturajavu' drawing huge crowds
Sep 1, 2004 IANS Sep 1Kochi, Sep 1 (IANS): Sensitive actor Mohanlal has come up trumps again with his latest flick "Natturajavu" drawing huge crowds this week.
1. "Natturajavu": The teaming up of Mohanlal and director Shaji Kailas has created a whirlwind at the box-office the first weekend, with all theatres displaying "house full" signs. But it remains to be seen whether the enthusiasm is sustained in the coming weeks.
2. "Vettam": This Dileep movie is directed by veteran Priyadarshan, considered an expert in slapstick comedy. It, however, seems to be a rehash of his old films, so it is not doing as well as it was expected to do.
3. "Manjupoloru Penkutty": This film tackles the theme of sexual harassment of a teenaged girl by her stepfather, and does so without being titillating. It is the sensitive treatment of the theme by director Kamal that has drawn the audience to the theatres.
4. "Mayilattam": Director V.M. Vinu's latest offering is doing well. After the recent success of "Baletten" with Mohanlal, he has cast superstar Jayaram in a double role. Shot in Pollachi, it has a rustic charm that has found favour with the audience.
5. "Aparichithan: The Stranger": This typical ghost story has Mammootty as a mysterious wildlife photographer. It is his presence in the film that saves it from being mediocre.
