You thought only Bollywood had a Big B?! Now, the Malayalam film industry is to have a Big B too. And it's none other than Mammootty, who earlier had won the admiration of the real Big B Amitabh Bachchan, for his performance in various roles. Mammootty is all set to do the lead role in the film Big B, to be directed by Amal Neerad.

Amal Neerad, who is making his directorial debut with this film, is a product of the SRFTI Kolkota, and had worked as the cinematographer of the Ranjith-directed Malayalam film Black. He had also worked in Bollywood as a cinematographer for films like James, Shiva and Darna Zaroori Hai. And now when Amal is all set to wield the megaphone, he has decided to do it in Malayalam, with Mammootty in lead role.

It is reported that scenarist-director Renjith is penning the script for the film, which is based on story by Amal Neerad himself. Mammootty plays the role of a bodyguard who returns to Kerala from Mumbai after long years. The film will be produced by Naushad under the banner of NNS Arts and will be released in April 2007.
