P Sreekumar alleges foul play in IFFK Suvarna Chakoram decision
Jan 23, 2011 NRTrivandrum, Jan.24 (NR): Almost a month after the announcement of Suvarna Chakoram Award of IFFK 2010, actor P Sreekumar has made a startling revelation that there was foul play involved.
The event was the press conference organized by the makers of the film 'Kudumbasree Travels', when Sreekumar dropped this grenade that created quite a ruffle.
Sreekumar said that it was initially decided that the Suvarna Chakoram be given to Mohan Raghavan's 'T D Dasan Std VI B', and later the decision was changed and the foreign film 'Portraits in a Sea of Lies' was selected instead. Sreekumar said that he was informed of this by a friend in the visual media , who however had no proof to prove his argument. Sreekumar was told that the foreign film was awarded the Suvarna Chakoram, so that the interest of the foreign delegates in the film festival would not be lessened.
When asked why he was making the revelation now, Sreekumar said that there is a need for young directors to be appreciated and recognized. The director of 'Kudumbasree Travels', Kiran who is a debutante, and actor Maniyanpillai Raju were also present at the press confrence.
