'Pandipada' tops in a dull fortnight

Kochi, July 20 (IANS) Dileep's home production "Pandipada" is at the top spot this fortnight. With the Malayalam film industry going through a dull phase, theatres are relying on Tamil and Hindi films for survival.
The top Malayalam films are:
"Pandipada" (Directed by Rafi-Mecartin): Released July 4, the film has failed to draw large audiences. But it is still at the top slot for want of competition.
"Raapakal" (Directed by Kamal): Mammootty's efforts to woo family audiences have received a mixed response. Kamal, along with his favourite writer T.A. Razak, have made a good film.
"Taskaraveeran": Mammootty's hold on the box office continues. This fun-filled film is raking in cash at B and C centres.
"Kochi Rajavu": Dileep's fortunes seem to be turning around. The success of this film has ensured that he maintains his position in the hierarchy of stardom after the two big Ms ruling the industry.
"Police" (Directed by V.K. Prakash): This movie starring brothers Prithviraj and Indrajith features on this list by default for want of a better alternative.
