Apr 3, 2006 Aparna NathChennai, April 3 (IANS) Vishnuvardhan's "Pattiyal", a film about two orphans turning into hired killers, has had a bumper opening and continues to rock theatres in Tamil Nadu.
Here's a look at the Tamil top five:
1. "Pattiyal" - Director: Vishnuvardhan. Vishnuvardhan's last film, "Arindum Ariyamalum", released last year was a surprise hit at the box office. He has done it again with his latest "Pattiyal", which is one of the biggest hits of 2006.
Both the young actors, Arya and Bharath, have come out with superlative performances in the film.
2. "Chithiram Pesuthadi" - Director: Mishkin. The story behind "Chithiram Pesuthadi's" success is known to everyone. One actor who benefited the most by its success is Bhavana who is now flooded with offers from Tamil filmmakers. And her most prized catch is a film opposite Ajith, which renowned director Bala will direct.
3. "Dishyum": Director: Sasi. The success of an unconventional love story "Dishyum" shows that the taste of the audience is changing.
4. "Kalvanin Kadhali" - Director: Thamilvaanan. This is one of the major hits of actress Nayanthara, and the film also reinforces the fact that there is an audience for S.J. Suryah's films.
5. "Kalaba Kaathalan": Director: Igor. The success of "Kalaba Kaathalan" is the success of Arya as an actor. It also shows the kind of fan following he has in Tamil Nadu. Though, initially his fans were a bit disappointed to see him as a lover, and not as an action hero, still it performed well.
