
Playback singer P. Leela passes away
Oct 31, 2005Chennai,Oct 31 P. Leela, renowned playback singer and Carnatic musician of yesteryears, died early on Monday at a private hospital here after a brief illness.
A popular, well-known voice in south Indian films, P Leela entered the field of playback singing when the rule that those who knew acting should also know singing was relaxed and others were given a chance to do the job.
She rode high on the wave of popularity in the south Indian film industry for nearly 25 years. Her songs were and still enjoyed by the listeners.
