'Portraits in a Sea of Lies' bags the Suvarna Chakoram!
Dec 17, 2010 NRTrivandrum, Dec.17 (NR): The Colombian film 'Portraits in a Sea of Lies', directed by Carlos Gaviria, has bagged the Golden Crow Pheasant Award at the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) that drew to a close today evening.
Carlos Gaviria, the director and producer Erwin Goggle wins a cash prize of Rs.15 lakhs along with the prestigious Suvarna Chakoram award. The Silver Crow Pheasant Award (Rajatha Chakoram) for the best director that comes along with a cash prize of four lakh rupees, was awarded to Argentinian director Julia Solomonoff for her film 'The Last Summer of La Boyita'.
It has been reported that 'T D Dasan Standard VI B', directed by Mohan Raghavan gave high competition to the winning films. The audience favorite from among the competition films was 'The Japanese Wife' directed by Aparna Sen.
The award jury consisted of the Chairperson Julie Dash, along with other film makers of repute like Maria Novaro, Apichapong Weerasethakul, Yashuhiro Hariki and Sooni Taraporevala.
'Veettilekkulla Vazhi' directed by Dr. Biju, was adjudged the best Malayalam film at the festival by NETPAC. The FIPRESCI award for the best Malayalam film was bagged by 'Makaramanju', directed by Lenin Rajendran.
