Prithviraj signs another Tamil movie, this time as hero

Prithviraj who got a lot of appreciation for his role as the bad Guy in "Kana Kandein" will get a chance to show his mettle as a hero in Tamil with Veteran filmmaker K.Bhagyaraj’s next movie. Bhagyaraj's daughter Saranya makes her debut as the heroine in the film to be directed by her father who is also doing its story and screen play.


Bhagyaraj and Poornima Bhagyaraj introduced Saranya as the heroine in "Parijatham" at a function in Chennai on August 10. It was more than a family affair. They also introduced the other artistes. Malayalam actor Prithviraj who played the villain in the recent Tamil film "Kana Kandein", will don the role of the hero in "'Parijatham'.


Bhagyaraj is also playing a role with Prakash Raj, Roja (Prithviraj's mother), Seetha and "Thalai Vasal" Vijai.


Bhagyaraj's niece S. Manjula and her husband Ravichandran are the producers. Saranya recently completed her Visual Communication degree from MOP Vaishnava College, Chennai.


Talking at the press meet, Bhagyaraj said “I had to struggle to enter the film field. My wife Poornima too was an actress. I take great pleasure in introducing my daughter Saranya as a heroine in ‘Parijatham’ “.


"I did not think my daughter wanted to take up acting as her career. She is soft and reserved. After seeing her talent, I am sure, she has done well. I have shot a few scenes and a song... they have come out well", he said.


About Prithviraj, Bhagyaraj said: "When I saw Prithviraj's acting in a comedy scene, I laughed out aloud. I think the film will be a success." Prithviraj said, "When I got a call from Mrs. Poornima Bhagyaraj, asking me to act in a film directed by Bhagyaraj, I was thrilled. I have done 23 films in Malayalam, one film in Tamil ("Kana Kandein"), but then I got more accolades here."


He thanked the Tamil audience for giving him a 'rousing reception'. Fresh-looking Saranya said her father permitted her to act in films without any hesitation. "But I must confess, he selected me only after giving me a proper screen and photo test," she added.


She said her wish from childhood was to act in films. "I am very proud and privileged that I am acting in my very first film under the direction of my father."


In "Parijatham" I play the character "Subadra", a next-door girl, she said. Among the other speakers were film producer Kalaignanam.
