Cochin, July.4 (NR): Scenarist-director Ranjith is all set to begin shoot for 'Paleri Manickam', one of his most ambitious projects.

A major highlight of this movie is that it's mostly theatre artists who will be doing the key roles. Ranjith and his team have selected some theatre artists and then, under the leadership of actor and theatre personality Murali Menon, have given them comprehensive training in an acting camp that lasted for two months.

The film narrates incidents revolving around a murder that took place in the 1950's and is based on a novel by T.P. Rajeevan. Another major highlight of the film is that Mammootty will be playing a double role in the film playing characters belonging to two different periods. While one is Ahmed Haji, a rich landlord who lived in the 1950's, the other is Haridas, a Delhi-based investigating officer.

Other than the theatre artists and Mammootty, the cast will also include Sreenivasan, Vijayaraghavan, Siddique, Saadique etc. A.V. Anoop of Medimix (AVA Productions) and Subair of Varnachithra Big Screen will jointly be producing 'Paleri Manickam', which will feature cinematography by Prakash Kutty, art-direction by Saburam and music by Bijibal. The film will start rolling soon at Mookambika (Kolloor) in Karnataka.
