Renowned lyricist Girish Puthenchery passes away
Feb 10, 2010 NRKozhikode, Feb.10 (NR): Renowned lyricist Girish Puthenchery passed away today at a private hospital in Kozhikode. He was 48.
Girish was under treatment in the hospital for the last few days after he complained of a headache on returning from Cochin Haneefa's burial last week. Later it was found out that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage.
Dear and near ones as well as the general public would get an opportunity to pay their last respects to the gifted writer at the Kozhikode Town Hall at 12 pm tomorrow. He would later be cremated at the Public Crematorium at Mavoor Road around 4 in the evening.
Girish had first written the songs for the film 'Enquiry'. He had followed it up with more than two thousand five hundred songs for about four hundred films. He had also won the State Award for the Best Lyricist seven times.
Girish had scripted films like 'Kinnaripuzhayoram', 'Pallavoor Devanarayanan' and 'Vadakkunnathan'. He had written the story of 'Meleparambil Aanveedu'.
