Rowdram, the second directorial venture of scenarist-turned-director Renji Panicker (whose maiden directorial venture was Bharath Chandran IPS), has started rolling in Kochi this week. Produced by Shahul Hameed Marikkar and Anto Joseph under the banner of Marikkar Films, Rowdram has already grabbed headlines since it has Mammootty playing the cop for the 25th time in as many years.

The film tells the story of Narendran, the dare-devil Assistant Commissioner of Police, who is known to all by the name of 'Nari' on account of his brilliant exploits. The upright Narendran, who had been serving in Kannur, has got transferred to Kochi and is on the trail of a murderer. His investigation leads him on to some people in the higher echelons of the social and political ladder. And this is where things take a turn.

Debutante Manju plays Narendran's wife. Also in the cast are Saikumar, Vijayaraghavan, Rajan P. Dev, Janardhanan, Subair, Shammi Thilakan, Jaffer Idukki etc. Scripted by the director himself, Rowdram has cinematography by Sanjeev Shankar, editing by Don Max and art direction by Gireesh Menon.

The film is slated to be completed in a single schedule and will probably be released on November 29th. Rowdram is eagerly awaited since Renji, the film's director and script writer, is noted for his satirical references to contemporary politics and burning issues of the day, and also for the fiery dialogue that his characters mouth. Let's wait and see!
