'Sagar alias Jackie' to arrive by next Vishu
Sep 19, 2008 NRWhen Mohanlal introduced himself on screen over two decades ago as Sagar alias Jackie, people greeted him with the loudest of applause. And even now, lots of filmgoers across Kerala still love to see and imitate Mohanlal in that particular role in the film Irupathaam Noottaandu, released in 1987.
Sagar, the character that Mohanlal played in the film, was one of the characters that made a superstar out of a star. And now, 21 years later, Mohanlal gets ready to play a character of the same name, in a film that was till now publicized as the sequel to Irupathaam Noottaandu.
But the makers of Sagar alias Jackie (that's the title of the new movie), including director Amal Neerad (this is his second directorial venture after 'Big B'), producer Antony Perumbavoor and scenarist S.N.Swamy (who had also scripted 'Irupathaam Noottaandu') say that the film is not a sequel.
They explain that the only thing that's common between the two films is the name of the hero. They state that it's in fact a totally new film, set in current times, where Sagar has to fight it out against evil forces. The film, which will be shot in India and abroad, will start rolling by December this year and is slated to be released by Vishu next year. So, let's wait for the 'second coming' of Sagar alias Jackie.
