Sathampodathey becomes Kelkaatha Shabdam

Satham Podathey, the Tamil film directed by Vasanth, is getting released in Kerala, but in a Malayalam dubbed version. The dubbed version, to be titled Kelkaathta Shabdam¸ was slated to be released in September, but this somehow did not materialize and it is likely to get a release in October. Satham Podathey, with Prithviraj and Padmapriya in lead roles, has been getting good reviews from different quarters and is reported to be a good thriller.

It is meanwhile reported that the dubbing rights had been sold under the condition that the original Tamil version wouldn't be released in theatres in Kerala. It should be remembered that though the average filmgoer in Kerala doesn't know who Vasanth is, they had been according a warm welcome to some of his films like Asai, Keladi Kanmani and Rhythm, without knowing who the maker of the films were.

Since Prithviraj doesn't have a market here at present as an individual actor, it has to be seen whether this strategy does good to the film or not. Those who are keen to view the original Tamil version of the film will have to wait until VCD's and DVD's reach the market.
