Shaji Kailas' new film targets bureaucracy
May 15, 2005 Sanu George, May 15Thiruvananthapuram, May 15 (IANS) Ace filmmaker Shaji Kailas, who has featured corrupt politicians as the central theme in several of his earlier films, is now targeting the bureaucracy in his latest film "Superintendent of Police".
This is the second film featuring veteran superstar Suresh Gopi, who is returning to Malayalam cinema after a three-year layoff. The other is "Bharatchandran IPS", which goes on the floors Monday.
While shooting for "Superintendent of Police" begins June 15, both films are slated for release during Onam in September.
Padmapriya will be the leading lady of "Superintendent of Police", which will mark the screen debut of senior Congress leader Raj Mohan Unnithan after an eventful career in politics.
"I decided to target the bureaucracy because I feel that the media and others always target politicians, who are portrayed as villains. In reality, what I have found is that the bureaucracy gets away unscathed. I just want to expose their wrong doings," Kailas told IANS.
"Unnithan plays the role of a businessman who is in the thick of all deals. It is not a negative role at all. I am sure through his forceful dialogue delivery, he will be a hit," Kailas contended.
"Superintendent of Police" will be Kailas' 25th Malayalam film.
