Shaji zooms in on the rains again!
May 18, 2008 NRFor those who have seen Shaji N. Karun's debut directorial venture, the much acclaimed Piravi, this headline does make sense to a great extent. Piravi (1988), undoubtedly the best of Shaji N. Karun's films, had rain as the backdrop and the film had some of the best and most beautiful rain-shots that we have ever seen not only in Malayalam Cinema but in the whole of Indian Cinema.
And as the monsoons are fast approaching, this maker of internationally acclaimed films like Piravi, Swaham, Vanaprastham, Nishad (Hindi) etc, is getting ready to zoom in once again on the rains in his latest film Kuttishranku. Produced by Anil Ambani's Reliance Entertainments, the period film will see Shaji N. Karun teaming up with Mammootty for the first time. Meera Jasmine will also be playing a key role in the film.
Kuttishranku will be shot at Kaavaalam, Kumarakom and Vaikkom, with the backwaters as the backdrop. The script for the film is penned jointly by Shaji N. Karun and Farukh Dhondy. Let's hope we get to see some marvelous rain-shots once again!
