Shashi Tharoor writing script for film on V. K. Krishna Menon
Jun 1, 2007 Sanu GeorgeThiruvananthapuram, May 31 (IANS) Shashi Tharoor is writing the script for a Rs. 80 million English film on the life of legendary diplomat and politician V. K. Krishna Menon.
Rajmohan Pillai, the producer of the film, told IANS that the United Nations's former under-secretary general Shashi Tharoor and former Indian diplomat T. P. Sreenivasan have begun writing the script for the film.
"The script is expected to be ready before September and shooting would begin soon after. We expect to take a year to complete the shooting and the post production work," said Pillai.
The film coincides with the 50th anniversary of the speech that Menon delivered on the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly.
"Sreenivasan is leaving for New York to complete a bit of research for the script and the film will be shot in north Kerala, Mumbai, Delhi, London and New York," said Pillai.
The film will be directed by award winning Malayalam film director R. Sarath. While ace Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah would portray Menon, other cast members are yet to be finalised.
"The official launch of the film would begin with the release of the film's brochure by Defense Minister A. K. Antony in New Delhi on June 20th," added Pillai.
