Song from 'Chaandupottu' tops Malayalam charts

Kochi, Sep 4 (IANS) The music of "Chaandupottu" reigns supreme this fortnight with two songs from the film in the top five. Vidyasagar's music complements the storyline very well.

1. "Omanappuzha": Film: "Chaandupottu"; Music: Vidyasagar; Lyrics: Vayalar Sharath Chandra Varma; Singer: Vineeth Sreenivasan.

An unusual Vidyasagar score. It is after a long time that we are hearing music free of gimmickry.

2. "Panchayathilu": Film: "Pandipada"; Music: Suresh Peters; Lyrics: R.K. Damodaran; Singers: Sujatha and Afsal.

This Suresh Peters score retains popular appeal despite stiff competition.

3. "Aazhakkadalinte": Film: "Chaandupottu"; Music: Vidyasagar; Lyrics: Vayalar Sharath Chandra Varma; Singer: S. Janaki.

The veteran singer lends her voice to a song that holds the crux of film.

4. "Thangamanasse": Film: "Raapakal"; Music: Mohan Sithara; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singer: Jayachandran P.

The music of this family entertainer starring Mammootty continues to appeal to the masses.

5. "Vasco da Gama": Film: "By the People"; Music: Praveen Mani; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: S5 Band.

The film did not do as well as "4 the People", which came before it. But the music is still being repeatedly played on the audiovisual media.
