Stage show to raise relief for tsunami victims
Jan 6, 2005 IANS Jan 6Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 6 (IANS): A stage show by prominent movie artistes of the Malayalam film industry and playback singers is to be held here in aid of the tsunami victims of Kerala.
Superstars Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi and a galaxy of other actors will participate in the show.
Leading playback singers K.J. Yesudas, Hariharan, S.P. Balasubramaniam, Jayachandran, Jassie Gift, K.S. Chitra, P. Susheela and Sujatha too will take part.
"The show will be held at the Nishagandhi auditorium and the entry charge will be Rs.1,000 per person," A.P. Anil Kumar, the state minister of culture, said Thursday.
"We expect to collect a minimum of Rs.5 million and this will go to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund," he said.
Speaking to IANS, M.K. Vivekanandan, secretary of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, said the event was being jointly organised by the academy and the Trivandrum Film Fraternity, a no-profit organisation of producers and directors.
"The response has been tremendous and we would be able to raise more money than our expectations," said Vivekanandan.
