Suresh Gopi reaches out for a cause

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 29 (IANS): Emotions are not merely for the screen -- as Suresh Gopi has proved so strongly.

In early August, Gopi went to a small place called Kottiyoor near Kannur. Not to shoot for a film but for a wholly different reason.

There, two HIV-positive children, Akshara and Ananthu, were being refused permission to attend school by parents of other children because of their disease.

On hearing of their plight, Gopi went to the school, hugged the children and let them kiss him on his cheeks.

He then made a strong plea to the villagers: "Your children will not be infected with AIDS if these two poor children study in the same class room or play with them. Please let them also study."

Any doubt as to who is Kerala's real star?
