Yugapurushan, the film based on the life and times of the great social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, has finally begun to roll.

Directed by R. Sukumaran, the director who had made films like Padamudra and Rajashilpi, the film has noted Tamil actor Thalaivasal Vijay playing Sree Narayana Guru. It would be a multi-star affair with Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jagathy Sreekumar also playing key roles.

Earlier it was heard that Tamil actor Sathyaraj too would act in the movie. The initial announcement was that Mammootty would be playing the guru, but the megastar himself later decided not to do so as he felt that someone who doesn't have a star image should do the role. And thus came in Thalaivasal Vijay. Mammootty will now be playing the role of a revolutionary, while Mohanlal would play Swami Vivekananda.

Also in the cast are Saikumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Babu Antony etc. Ramachandra Babu cranks the camera for the film, which is produced by A.V. Anoop under the banner of AVA Productions. The film is currently in progress at Ottapaalam.
