Theatre owners withdraw proposed strike

Cochin, Apr.26 (NR): The theater owners who had threatened to shut down the theatres from the first of May, have withdrawn the proposed strike.

It was Liberty Basheer, President of the Exhibitors Federation who made this clear after the Executive Meeting that was held today.

He said that the unfair demands of the distributors cannot be accepted. However there would be no objection to the new releases if these demands were revoked.

The distributors had earlier demanded that the noon show also be included while deciding the hold-over status of a film.
