M. Padmakumar, the director who had made Ammakilikoodu, Vargam and Vasthavam, had announced a film with Mammootty in the lead role, titled Theepetty Chandran, in which Mammootty was to play an auto rickshaw driver named Theepetty Chandran, who is an out and out drunkard. But it is heard that the film has been shelved at least for the time being.

The team is now in the works of another venture, which will start rolling by the end of next month. It will have Mammootty playing Gillette Purushottaman, a heartless financier who cares for nothing but money. It's Sneha who plays the female lead and the film is to be produced by Howley Pottore under the banner of Dream Team Productions. T.A. Razack, who was scripting Theepetty Chandran, will be the script-writer for this film too. It's reported that Theepetty Chandran hasn't been discarded and will be made in course of time.
