Kochi, May 5 (IANS) Trade pundits say the Vishu season was lacklustre for Malayalam cinema because films released during this period did not do as well as expected. But that does not stop them from being on this list.

1. "Thommanum Makkalum": The competition from new releases did not make an impact on the fortunes of this Mammootty-starrer as it has retained its position at the top of the list.

2. "Chandrolsavam": When Mohanlal and director Ranjith come together they are expected to spew fire. But this time around, they have surprised the audience with a softer and philosophical approach to storytelling.

3. "Udayananu Tharam": The stupendous success of this film has made people sit up and take note. This Roshan Andrews movie, with a 'film in film' story, has completed 100 days.

4. "Kochi Rajavu": Here Dileep again tries his hand at action after the success of "Runway" last year. Director Johnny Antony who made "CID Moosa", Dileep's maiden production, has helmed this film also.

5. "Alice In Wonderland": This is not a remake of Lewis Carroll's classic.

Director Sibi Malayil has roped in Jayaram and Sandhya, who plays the title role, in this film about sibling bonding. Laya plays Jayaram's love interest. Vineeth has also got an interesting role in this film.
