'Thommanum' overtakes 'Udaynanu'

Kochi, April 5 (IANS) At last, "Udayananu Tharam" has moved to the second spot after being on the top for a couple of months. The film that has captured the coveted top spot is "Thommanum Makkallum", which has got bumper opening at the box-office.

1. "Thommanum Makkallum": A typical entertainer aimed at the vacation crowd, this Mammooty-starrer directed by Shafi has got every ingredient required for success in the right proportion.

2. "Udayananu Tharam": The success of this film has revived the spirits of the industry as a whole. This has made debutant director Roshan Andrews into an inspirational speaker, who does not miss any opportunity to say that youngsters can succeed in this industry if they have the conviction.

3. "Achuvinte Amma": Director Sathyan Anthikkad's female-oriented subject has found universal acceptance. Urvasi and Meera Jasmine's on-screen chemistry has been a bonus.

4. "Ponmudipuzhayorathu": Sheela stars in this film directed by debutant Johnson Esthappan. It tells the story of mother-son relationship with Madhu Warrier playing the son. Arvind and Meenakshi also star in this film.

5. "Oridam": This is an offbeat film about a commercial sex-worker. It features Geetu Mohandas and is directed by Pradeep Nair. It has found favour with discerning viewers.
