'Vadakkumnathan' songs top Malayalam charts

Kochi, May 31 (IANS) Songs of "Vadakkumnathan", composed by the late Raveendran, dominate the Malayalam charts this fortnight. The top five songs are:

1. "Kalabham Tharam" - Film: "Vadakkumnathan"; Music: Raveendran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: K.S. Chitra and Biju Narayanan. Based on traditional classical tunes, the album was a hit when it came out and now the release of the film has revived its popularity. "Kalabham Tharam" is picturised on Kavya Madhavan and Vineeth.

2. "Aattinkarayorathe" - Film: "Rasathanthram"; Music: Ilayaraja; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singer: Manjari. The popularity of this song refuses to diminish.

3. "Oru killi pattu mulave" - Film: "Vadakkumnathan". Music: Raveendran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: K.J. Yesudas and K.S. Chitra. A romantic song picturised on Mohanlal and Padmapriya appeals to music lovers because it goes well with the theme of the film.

4. "Matthapoo" - Film: "Balram Vs Tharadas"; Music: Jassie Gift; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: Afsal, Rimy Tomy, Anwar and Jassie Gift. Jassie Gift proves that with his brand of music he can hit bull's eye anytime.

5. "Varavelkkumo" - Film: "Pachakuthira"; Music: Ilayaraja; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: Madhu Balakrishnan and Jyotsna. This romantic number is the sole representative of the film on the charts.
