'Vargam' producer accuses Prithviraj of lying

Cochin, Sep.8 (NR): The interview with Prithviraj that was broadcast on Asianet during the Onam season seems to have landed the young star in a controversy.

In the interview, Prithvi had said that he had helped the producer of 'Vargam' by accepting just three lakhs as his remuneration.

However the producer of the film Hasib has a different story to tell. He has served a legal notice to the star for allegedly lying in the interview and for causing him dishonor.

Hasib also convened a press conference where he lashed out against the star. Hasib says that he had paid eight and a half lakhs rupees to the star for having acted in his film. The producer also said that contrary to what he said in the interview, he suffered severe losses because of the star.

Hasib alleged that the film that was initially planned at a budget of less than a crore, finally was completed at a budget of one crore and thirty lakhs. Hasib said that Prithviraj had a role in the budget sky rocketing.

Hasib has demanded that the star should withdraw his statements and tender an official apology, or pay an amount of twenty five lakhs for defamation.

Prithvi has not yet reacted to the producer's allegations.
