Veteran music director Ravindran passes away

Thiruvananthapuram, March 3 (IANS): Veteran Malayalam music director Ravindran passed away at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai Thursday. He was suffering from throat cancer.


He had been under treatment for some time.


Ravindran scored music for hundreds of Malayalam films, including hits like "His Highness Abdullah", "Mazha", several of which starred popular actor Mohanlal. He was also an accomplished singer himself.


Ravindran, it is said, was instrumental in moulding the career of award-winning playback singer K.S. Chithra when in 1982 he asked her to look for a career in Chennai.
