Actor Vijay launched a flag for his fans association at a function to celebrate his 32rd birthday and the 15th anniversary of the fans association. The function was held at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium.

Rajinikant, Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar already have the flags for their fans associations. Two of them, Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar, have been associated with politics.

Denying having any political ambitions, Vijay, speaking at the function said," With this flag, I am not launching a party or entering politics. A friend of mine from Erode wanted me to have a flag and start a political party. I refused to start a party. It is not necessary to be in politics to do good for the people. All you need is good intentions. Floating a political party and going to the people are not easy tasks."

The flag in light blue and white has Vijay's face and his fingers pointing towards the fan imprinted in a light blue circle. Within the circle is a slogan "Unnal Mudiyum" (You can do it). The white outer space has another slogan, 'Uzhaithidu, Uyarnthidu (work hard and rise).

Vijay's father S.A. Chandrasekhar said the flag was launched to encourage the fans associations to keep up their good work The flag would show them the right path.

"Ilayathalapathi Vijay Rasigar Narpani Mandram" has 47,000 branches all over Tamil Nadu, the highest for any star in the State. In addition, there are scores of fans associations in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, according to Vijay's secretary Thennilavan.
