Ameer elected FEFSI president
Jun 20, 2012 PGVDirector/actor Ameer has been elected president of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) for the period 2012_2014.
The election was held at the FEFSI office at Vadapalani on June 19. FEFSI consists of 23 associations. One of them, the drivers association, did not participate in the ballot. A total of 66 representatives (the president, the secretary and the treasure of each of the 22 associations) were to have cast their votes, but Directors Association president Bharathiraja did not turn up. So, 65 votes were polled. Former secretary of the Stunt Union K. Narayanan was the returning officer.
Ameer and Visu were in the race for the presidentship and Ameer was declared elected by a margin of nine votes. Ameer polled 37 votes. G. Siva was elected secretary and Angamuthu Shanmugam was already elected unopposed for the post of treasurer.
Directors S.P. Jananathan, Prabhu Solomon, S.S. Stanley, Sharavasubbiah, Aslam and K.P. Jagannath were among those who felicitated Ameer.
Talking to mediapersons, Ameer said he would make efforts to improve the lot of the film employees. Insurance and pension schemes would be introduced. FEFSI under his leadership would abide by the recommendations of the Labour Welfare Board and the Minister for Labour Welfare on the issue of wage revision.
