'Anniyan' continues its dream run

Aug 5, 2005 Aparna Nath, Aug 5

Chennai, Aug 5 (IANS) Last week, several films with heroes belonging to the new generation were released. But none could topple Shankar's "Anniyan" from the top spot.

The top five Tamil films are:

1. "Anniyan" (Directed by Shankar): This is the biggest success story of 2005.

2. "Dass" (Directed by Babu Yogeswaran): After 100 days, "Chandramukhi" has been pushed from its place by Jeyam Ravi's "Dass". Though the film did not have a spectacular opening, this mass entertainer is expected to do well at the box office.

3. "Priyasakhi" (Directed by Athiaman): This Madhavan starrer had a decent opening. Unfortunately, Madhavan's films do not get good initials any more.

4. "Chandramukhi" (Directed by P. Vasu): "Chandramukhi" has completed 100 days in all the theatres it was released. A rare feat today.

5. "February 14" (Directed by Hoshimin): Hoshimin, like Balaji Saktivel, is a protégé of Shankar. However, unlike Saktivel's "Kathal", "February 14" has not appealed to anyone, not even to the youngsters it targeted.
