Arulnidhi as 'Maunaguru'
Oct 18, 2011 PGVAfter 'Vamsam' and 'Udhayan' Arulnidhi's next film is 'Maunaguru'. The shooting of the film has been completed and is likely to be released in December.
According to Arulnidhi, it is a crime thriller. A youngster, who comes to Chennai from Madurai, gets unwittingly entangled in a serious problem. How he gets out of it is the story. Though the story sounds very ordinary, the screenplay is gripping and racy. It dwells on Mother-son bonding, romance, sentiment, action and comedy.
Why is the youngster from Madurai? Arulnidhi says director Santhakumar hails from Madurai . He has worked with Dharani in 'Dhill', 'Dhool', and 'Gilli'. He is well versed in all aspects of filmmaking and is capable of making a hit movie. In fact, he has lived the character like 'Maunaguru'.
In 'Vamsam' Arulnidhi adopted the Pudukottai slang. In 'Maunaguru', he speaks pure Madurai Tamil.
The female lead is Iniya who gave a brilliant performance in 'Vaagai Chooda Vaa'. She plays the hero's sister-in-law (younger sister of brother's wife).
Arul's character is that whatever he does is misconstrued and feared. So, he remains silent. His demeanor casts a gloom over the family and becomes a talking point.. Iniya (Aarthi) is the only person who understands him and eventually they fall in love. She is given a weighty and critical role.
What types of characters he would like to do? Arul points out that 'Vamsam' was a village story, 'Udhayan' is an action hero subject and 'Maunaguru' is a crime thriller. From this it is clear he has selected three different characters. He plans do a comedy film next and the spadework is on, he says.
