Director Bala has started shooting for his film titled 'Eriyum Thanal' which depicts the lives of tea estate workers.

The film has Atharvaa as the hero and Vedhika as the heroine.

Dhanishka has now signed the film as the second heroine after Pooja dropped out.

Ask Pooja why she has backed out after signing with Bala. She says she is going to Australia to shoot for another film and she could not accommodate Bala's film because of call-sheet problems.

Director Bala, a national award winner, had been looking for new faces to star in this film. As soon as the script was ready, Atharvaa was Bala's first choice for the lead role. The director also wanted the lead actress also to be a new face, but he cast Vedhika as he found her apt for the role. Then he went to sign up Pooja, but she dropped out. Dhanshika has now replaced her.

'Eriyum Thanal' is a family theme based on a Malayalam novel, which has been translated into Tamil by author Daniel and is titled Eriyum Thanal. The novel is about a couple with a child and their woes. Bala has drawn the inspiration from this novel to do the film. His ambition is to make it an award winner. He has even set his sights on international film festivals.

Bala, sources say, is keen that the film should merit an award and international recognition.
