Radha's daughter Karthika, who made her debut in K.V. Anand's film 'Ko' has been chosen by director Bharathiraja for the lead role in his 'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum'.

Karthika is currently away in Kerala. Confirming the news, her mother said, 'Yes, Kathika is doing my guru's film. For a beginner like my daughter, the character offers a lot of scope for performance. It is a beautiful role with variations.'

(It was Bharathiraja who introduced Radha in 'Alaigal Oyvathillai'. Karthik paired with her in this film.)

There was a special screening of 'Ko' for Bharathiraja, and the veteran film-maker reportedly praised Karthika for her matured performance. He had seen Karthika when she was a little girl ten years ago.

The film stars Parthepan and has Iniya of 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' fame and actress Eswari Rao. New comers Acchan and Nakshatra (children of Bharathiraja's friend) have also been included in the cast.

Bharathiraja is yet to finalise the name of the male lead.

The project will be formally launched with pooja on Nov.17 at Theni in south Tamil Nadu and around 150 kollywood celebrities, including Mani Ratnam, K. Balachander and Balu Mahendra are expected to attend it. There will be a break for two months after the first 20-day shooting schedule to enable Parthepan to prepare for his role.

G.V. Prakash is the music director.
