Director Bharathiraja has replaced Parthepan with Ameer in his film 'Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum' which is to be launched this month.

The change has sprung a surprise on Parthepan who had been preparing for the dual roles (father and son) he was to play.

But, in the place of Parthepan, director-actor Ameer ('Paruthiveeran' fame) participated in the photo shoot at Theni on Oct. 11. (11-11-11).

Parthepan was to appear shirtless in a few scenes and the photo shoot was done a few days earlier. Sources close to Bharathiraja said Parthepan's shirtless look did not go down well and so, it was decided to replace him.

'Ko' Karthika and Iniya are the two heroines featured in the film.

G.V. Prakash Kumar is scoring the music. Originally, Bharathiraja wanted Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu to be part of the project. This did not materialize.

When contacted by mediapersons, Parthepan said Bharathiraja had phoned him and told him he would be cast in the new film and he would play the character of Kattuviriyan. 'He had signed me up and also made the advance payment. I had been told that I would have to come for the photo shoot on Nov. 10 and I was getting ready for it'.

Parthepan regretted that he had not been informed of his being replaced with Ameer.

'In my 20-year film career this development is a new experience for me,' he remarked.

'This is not a wedding engagement. In cinema there is no room for sentiments. Such things do happen and I take it in my stride. Maybe Ameer also is suitable for the role,' he said.

The actor added, 'Now all my thoughts are revolving around my film 'Vithagan' which is due to be released on Nov.18.'
