Bharathirajaa's is in a fix!

The 7th Additional City Civil Court on Sept.29 stayed the election of Bharathirajaa as president of the Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association until further orders.

Judge Kripanidhi appointed advocates R. Vidhya and Jayasudha to conduct the affairs of the association as an interim arrangement. These advocates should be handed over charge of the association forthwith, the judge said.

The judge passed the order on a petition from director R.C. Sakthi questioning Bharathirajaa's action in organizing elections to the posts of vice-president, secretary and treasurer when Sakthi's earlier petition challenging the election of Bharathirajaa as president is pending disposal.

The election to the post of president was held on June 8 when R.C. Sakthi's nomination was rejected and Bharathirajaa was declared elected.

In his petition filed in the 7th Additional City Civil Court, Sakthi contended that when he had challenged the election of Bharathirajaa and this petition is pending disposal, the association had announced on Sept.16 that the election of the vice-president, secretary and treasurer would be conducted on Oct. 12. Sakthi also prayed for appointing a person to conduct these elections.

Sakthi's petition came up for hearing before Judge Kripanidhi on Sept.29. Counsel P. Arvalan and V. Samuthra Vijayan appeared for Sakthi and argued the case.

Besides staying the election of Bharathirajaa and appointing as an interim measure two advocates to discharge the functions of the association, Judge Kripanidhi also named S.A. Chandrasekharan to conduct the elections to the posts of vice-president, secretary and treasurer according to the rules within two months and submit a report to the court.
