Can 'Karuppampatti' afford Katy Perry?

California pop singer Katy Perry, an international sensation, is yet to give her nod to be part of 'Karuppampatti' directed by Prabhu Raja Chozhan, who is currently busy wrapping his debut film.

Prabhu was keen to rope in Katy for a dance scene in 'Karuppampatti'. Bollywood composer and singer Bappi Lahiri has sung a song in the disco genre and the song was recorded in Mumbai. Prabhu planned to get Katy to dance to this song along with Ajmal who plays the lead. When Prabhu had approached Katy, she had agreed in principle and informed him that she would make herself available if her schedules permitted. This was in March-April.

Now, Prabbhu says Katy Perry is demanding an exorbitant amount. However, he is hopeful of sealing the deal with her soon.

The film is getting ready and will be released in Tamil and Malayalam and dubbed in Telugu as well. "The subject of my film _ the relationship between a father and son _ is universal and audiences from across the country can relate to it," Prabhu says.

He pointed out that Ajmal is a known face in Mollywood since he debuted with 'Madambi'. He has a good market in Tollywood after the release of 'Rangam' and 'Rachcha'.

In 'Karuppampatti', Ajmal is paired up with Aparna Bajpai of 'Eesan' fame. The hero (Ajmal) lives in Paris and he comes to Tamil Nadu to locate his father's place. Ajmal plays both the son and father roles. A portion of the film was shot for 30 days in Paris.
