Cheran to direct and act in 'Pokkisham' with Padmapriya
Mar 15, 2008 PVSActor-director Cheran and Padmapriya are teaming up again for "Pokkisham".
Now that his "Raman Thediya Seethai" has taken shape, Cheran is devoting all his time and energy to his dream project "Pokkisham". The script is also ready.
Cheran plays the hero and directs the film which is expected to start rolling in a couple of weeks.
Meera Jasmine, who was to have paired with Cheran in "Pokkisham", has pulled out citing personal reasons. Padmapriya, who played the lead opposite Cheran in "Thavamai Thavamirunthu", will now replace Meera.
Cheran wanted to launch the new film last year itself, but could not because of his other commitments.
According to him, "Pokkisham" is set in village milieu and Padmapriya whom he described as a fantastic actress, has a very meaty role.
The actor-director is all praise for his assistant Jagannath, who has directed "Raman Thediya Seethai". "It is going to be a very good film after "Autograph", a treat for the entire family," Cheran says.
What is interesting is that this film has five heroines who are Navya Nair, Vimala Raman, Kaarthika, Sujala, and new face Ramya Nambison.
The film revolves around the middle class youth. A youth's dreams about his marriage form the basis of the story. Pasupathi and Nithin Sathya help Cheran, who portrays the character named Venu, in his search for a wife of his dreams.
Director Jagannath has written the story, screenplay and dialogues. "Pudiya Geetham" and "Kodambakkam" were his earlier directorial ventures.
Produced buy Moser Bayer, the film is to be ready for release in May.
