'Dasavatharam' has no story, says Bharathiraaja

The latest Kamal-starrer "Dasavatharam" has no story and importance is given to technology, according to veteran director Bharathiraaja.

He visited Trichur on July 30 and his observations during a chat with mediapersons there were reported in a Tamil daily.

Bharathiraaja reportedly said Malayalam as well as Tamil cinema do not have good stories and there is a dearth of new ideas. Tamil films are made relying more on technological gimmicks rather than on substance. Not so much importance is given to stories as to technology, he remarked. He cited "Dasavatharam" as an example.

Bharathiraaja said this situation has been brought about mainly by the fact that story writers have turned directors. In Tamil cinema, the importance of directors is on the wane while star dominance is on the rise, he observed.
