The shooting of "Dasavatharam" starring Kamal Haasan and directed by K.S. Ravikumar, which is underway, will be completed in June and released in August this year, according to latest reports. The producer is Ravichandran of Oscar Films.

Kamal, who returned to Chennai from the US in December after the shooting of some sequences there, is preparing to leave for Malaysia. A couple of days ago, he participated in a function got up by Moserbaer, at Greenpark Hotel to release low-cost DVDs and VCDs of original Tamil movies (Moserbaer is the world's second largest manufacturer of DVDs, VCDs, HD-DVDs and Blue-ray discs.)

Kamal appeared in hairstyle as in his old movie "Sathya" and French beard. Speaking at the function, he said he had wished for long that someone should bring out old Tamil movies on DVDs and VDS and now Moserbaer had fulfilled his wish. Hereafter all Tamil films should be made available on DVDs and VCDs, he said.

The function provided an opportunity to know more about the story of "Dasavatharam". During Chola period, the animosity between Veera Saivaites and Veera Vaishnavas was at its peak. The story begins with Vaishnavite acharya Ramanuja's time with Napolean playing Chozhan while Kamal dons the role of a Veera Vaishnavan.

As the name of the film connotes, there are ten 'avatars' or ten changes in human character. Kamal plays an old woman (as in "Avvai Shanmukhi") also. Apart from the role of Veera Vaishnavan, some other roles played by Kamal are: an armyman and an expert detective, "Bush" and "Osama bin Laden".

Asin, who pairs with Kamal, plays double roles. Bollywood glamour girl, Mallika Sherawat also stars in the movie.
