'Deiva Thirumagal' wins Grand Prix at Osaka festival

'Deiva Thirumagal' which was screened at the Osaka Film Festival in Japan last week, won the Grand Prix Award for being the best film of the festival. It also won the ABC award for being the festival’s best entertainer.


Director Vijay said the awards excited the entire team. Actor Vikram donned the important role of a father. Santhanam, Anushka, Amala Paul and the child Sarah along with Vikram gave touching performances. The film illustrated how strong the emotional bondage between father and his little daughter.


The Grand Prix award carried a cash prize of 50,000 yen and the ABC award was presented along with one million yen.


Enthused by the Osaka honour, director Vijay is planning to send his other film 'Madaraspattinam' to festivals. He says he has already getting invitations for his forthcoming film 'Thandavam' starring Vikram, Anushka and Amy Jackson. The first schedule of shooting of this film has been completed.
