The first lengthy schedule of Bharat Bala’s ‘Mariyaan’ in Namibia is over. A fight sequence was also filmed under the supersion of Dilip Subbarayan. A.R. Rahman has composed two songs to be shot in Africa.

Dhanush and Malayalam actress Parvathy Menon play the lead roles in the Tamil film. After the first schedule, Bharat Bala finds that Dhanush is apt for the role. “I must say he has fit the role to a T and you will find his character constantly evolving as the story progresses.”

‘Mariyaan’ is Bharat Bala’s second full-length feature film after ‘Hari Om’ in Hindi.

As a jury for the national awards, he watched ‘Aadukalam’ which won Dhanush an award. Impressed as he was with Dhanush’s performance, Bharat Bala wanted the actor to be involved in his project ‘Mariyaan’ and Dhanush gave his nod without hesitation.

Why ‘Mariyaan’ in Tamil? Bharat Bala says his script was based on a true life incident and suitable for Tamil cinema. A film with the right mix of real and commercial elements would go down well with Tamil audiences who are discerning, he reasons.

A Chennaiite, Bala came into the limelight after his collaboration with A.R. Rahman’s projects _’Jana Gana Mana’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. Getting emboldened, he launched his Tamil feature film ‘Mariyaan’ under the banner of Aascar. Venu Ravichandran produces the film. Click the Movie button below for more info:
